29 MAR 2011 Tokyo - Tokyo's stock exchange closed down 0,2% amid fears linked to the safety of the Fukushima nuclear plant.
Traces of plutonium were detected in the area surrounding the plant. The NIKKEI index recouped most of its losses in the final part of the session and closed at 9,459.08 points. TEPCO stock plummeted following rumors, which were later denied, about Fukushima's owner discussing nationalization. Stock owners rushed to sell en masse; the electricity company's stock fell 19% from Monday's close
